Gary Briggs discusses his winning "KIller App" for the Plug Computer, software that automatically logs the performance of his Mini Cooper combined with Geo-tagged GPS information.

What is a plug computer? A plug computer is a tiny, low power server, intended to provide network-based services within the home. It is an always-on system, and can serve data and applications to computing devices within the home. It can also be a bridge between home computing devices and Internet-based services.

  • @hthrtk I modded mine; google for "obdgpslogger sheevap5v"

  • @jclark017 Sure, just google for obdgpslogger

  • Did this guy open source the code he wrote? I'm going to try to do the same thing.

  • Great job! Is there a model that run on car battery (and not 110V)?

  • @drewtech2 This is about running a headless logging application on a $100 device. DashDAQ may also log, but it's to do much more than that. It is also not $100.

You won't be gaining too many customers with that kind of criticism either. Your attitude is embarrassing.

  • @drewtech2 OBDGPSLogger also needed to be software-based, open source, run on linux/sheevaplug, and be free rather than an MSRP of seven hundred dollars.

In summary: DashDAQ, ok at what it does, not what everyone wants. Brave attempt on the "SNAP", though.

  • Nice, win a contest with an "idea" that is and has been a shipping product for multiple years. He says he couldn't find anything that would collect data from his can and from GPS at the same time. I guess this means he didn't look too hard. If he had, he would have known about DashDAQ. Oh *SNAP* maybe he did know about it! Nice job on the part of the "judges" too. Did they hand out awards for walking upright and breathing?

  • 優秀な車 - Performance car yes!

Next step, I like to see combine, Twitter Cat App & Car App, for sure!

  • Where can I get one?

  • I like it :-D
