By the time of the release of this recording by the Four Tops, Motown had become a veritable hit machine rolling out one after another from their stable of talent. "Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over)" was written by Motown's crack writing and production team of Holland, Dozier, and Holland, and with Levi Stubbs leading the Four Tops and the Funk Brothers backing them up, the song just couldn't miss and it didn't reaching the #18 spot during March of 1966.
