  • It appears our ground speed was 406 ground speed.

  • Do you think N1 is too high at this level@_@?

  • @62306230i No, does it appear to be out of limits at any point?

  • Oh yeah? Do you fly the SR-71 or something? Have you used one of these flight management systems before? Nobody flies Business jets at their service ceilings 51k is the maximum certified altitude, not the service ceiling. Oh, and just to make one more thing clear I took the video so I know it was the space shuttle.

  • I keep replaying trying to see what your ground speed was. Was it in the high 300's /401?

  • Guys. To be considered as an astronaut you would have to be flying above FL3278. The ISS is at approx. FL12600 or 385km and is considered in L.E.O.

  • I flew the learjet 45 out of Vancouver for a number of years, on 5 occasions the conditions were just right to climb to 51000 feet. Temp if I remember correctly was isa -10 half tanks and no passengers on board. We were told one evening that we had opposite direction military traffic, happened to be a stealth bomber. Air traffic in the USA were even surprised we were up at that altitude. Lear jet also give pilots that have flown at that altitude a gold 510 pin. Sky colour purple, slight curve

  • cool video, i fly a 31a and only been to fl470 so far but we only burning 850lbs/hr at 470 doing .77. .79 is mmo at 470 and above but we have both raisbeck mods, locker and zr lite flap mod. im curious what fuel burn we would get at 510. its very quiet and beautiful up there. btw lots of dumb shits commenting on these videos, most people dont have a clue.

  • oh man, you flying as high as your flight can do @_@

  • Very impressive! I've been flying a 45 with BR engines for two years now. We take it to 450 any weight or temp. Havn't had it to 510 yet.

  • @nismo611 "Also FL 510 is a low Earth orbit"-- If you can "orbit" a space shuttle at 51,000 feet then I'll be damned...
