Multiplayer is noit impossible...
install the latest patch
get gameranger
read some forums and enjoy playing together

@lgoopio Watch this tutrorial how to solve this problem, I have windows vista and it fixed it perfectly so I hope it will work for all of you guys who couldn't play K&M on your OS... Type in (How to play Knights and Merchants on windows vista/7) to watch the cure for this problem...

probably because it's a very old game, I wonder if windows XP already existed when the game came out.
