YVR Airline Expo 1993 filmed by Henry Tenby

This video was filmed during the 1993 YVR Airline Expo which was an airline collectibles show held at the River Inn in May of that year. The show was organized by Henry Tenby with help from Glen Etchells and Mike Brown. Due to the recession that show was poorly attended with very few people spending money, to the chagrin of those attending as depicted in this clip, filmed by Henry Tenby. Due to poor attendance this was the last Vancouver Airline Expo show organized by Henry Tenby and friends. Yes I used to organize these YVR shows in the early 1990s and attendance dropped down fast after the first show. So I threw in the towel. And with the US-Canadian border having become an armed and closed frontier ... the current border situation would dissuade people from the US coming up even more so than in the early 90s. What happened here, attendance wise, is pretty much what happened to the St. Louis, MO airline show that did pretty good in the early to mid 1990's and then died out. Thankfully, we still have two great airline collectible shows in the Chicago area twice a year.

Shame it wasn't such a hit.. alternatively, I visited my first in 2004 near LAX, and it was so packed I couldn't breathe!
