When I hear this beautiful hymn of sorrow and hope, I recall going through the World War I National Monument in Kansas City, Missouri. At the monument, there is huge mural carved in stone showing a resolve to fight oppression, the sorrows and sacrifice it brings, and the healing and hope for the future those who have endured the horrors of war strive for.
