@bl00dst41n3d San Marcos and New Braunfels are wonderful places, I've lived in SM all my life and would never have it any other way. Just an hour away from San Antonio and Austin. Great places for Summer activities tube down the San Marcos river or the Comal river. Check out the summer in the park music festival. Wurstfest in New Braunfels, since you are German that should be extra awesome. Overall, if you are considering moving here, I would say go for it, I don't think you'll regret it.
