its an oill delivery issue. it looks like the bearing in the turbo let go and the vgt pieces were coming in contact with the compressor wheel

The little "oil" mishap is probably killed the turbo. Lack of oil for even 1 second is more than enough to kill the bearings and shag the compressor wheel. The pits in the var geometry vanes is probably because of gas cavitation.
As for "egt killing turbos", Turbos are designed to operate red hot, if that isn't "extreme heat" I don't know what is...
