Another week of practice and I believe I have improved the tonal quality ever so slightly, but there are still a few scratchy spots. I can see that this is going to be a very long journey.
Instrument:
Yamaha Silent Violin, model SV-110, Dominant strings, Aubert bridge, Bow bought on eBay for $70.
Audio recording:
Direct audio connection (no microphones used) to PreSonus FireBox audio interface, DELL XPS 630i computer, Audacity recording software, backing track of piano accompaniment made from sheet music by entering into Finale, and then playing through Ketron SD4 sound module.
Video recording:
Sony Webbie camera set to HD 1280x720 pixel resolution.
Video editing:
MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus HD on DELL XPS 630i computer.

@ImaLanger - Thank you Mike for taking the time to listen. Yes, it's all in the bow action, or so I read in my various lessons and books. I agree that it's starting to sound better, but remember that I am trying really hard and you are seeing the best take out of many. But that is how we train, so I'm not complaining. I'm still unsure how far I can really take this. Joshua Bell and David Garrett make it look so easy.

Hi Leon. You are progressing well. Your bow action looks good with nice arm movements to play the higher/lower strings and the sound produced is nice and consistent and is not as harsh as I would expect for someone just starting to play violin.
