We happened to be in Nouakchott, Mauritania while chilling in Africa so we decided to stop in at the country's only record store, Saphir D'or. Turns out it rules! We chatted with Ahmede Valle, shop proprietor and seasoned DJ, about record collecting and the unifying powers of music.

Pro-tip: Regarding all the Earth Crisis comments, that's not a record from the Syracuse straight edge band you see in the piece. It's the amazing 1984 Steele Pulse classic album entitled "Earth Crisis." Don't sleep.

Probably the most awesome music store in the world today. Records, cassettes. Did he even have any cds? If I was in the neighbourhood, I'd go shop there for sure :D
