  • @Nater245689 What makes you sure these guys were picked by the Northern Alliance? How is the Taliban referring to everyone else? What proof of this do you have?

  • @NRAdude Maybe in 2001. But we'll stick with that. Most of these guys weren't picked up by the US. Probably none of them were. They were picked up by the Northern Alliance. Who knows who they were. Back to the present. What the US calls the "Taliban" is a conglomeration of Islamists, drug smugglers, and regular Afghans that want the ISAF out of their country. They're probably going to get their wish.

  • @Nater245689 No Taliban does not equal Al Queda. Taliban harbors Al Queda. They originated as "talibs" or "students" which were corrupted by the radical sheiks that moved in after the Soviets left. Yes, I'm sure all of the poor terrorists captured planting bombs were just at the wrong place at the wrong time

  • @nixymagoo That's all well and good, but at the time the US didn't have much in the way of 7.62x51mm weaponry beyond the M240G and the M24 SWS. The re-issue of refurbed M14s came as a result of Afghanistan along with the development of weapons such as the FN SCAR-H and KAC SR-25 EMC.

  • @NRAdude Yeah buddy, sure. Taliban /= al Qaeda. You'd think after 10 years of conflict, this fact would be readily apparent. "Taliban" is just the name the US and others use for anyone in Afghanistan that wants the ISAF to go home. You've also got to realize that probably half of those people captured probably weren't even Taliban, they were probably just people the US-backed warlord didn't particularly like on that given day. Still, I don't see any other way it could have went.

  • KSP 58 :D
