Sorry that I have been MIA for awhile. I have been swamped with school and work, no joke. But you can believe through out it all, I have not failed to brain storm for "A Hollywood Heartache." TWO DAYS LATER....
It had been a couple of days since Ella had pulled me aside and asked me to join her for lunch. Now here I was, at Cafe Promenade waiting for Ella to arrive. As I sat there sipping on my Ice Tea, I could feel my palms sweat and my leg shaking uncontrollably. Although I was sure that her intentions were harmless, I still couldn't shake this nervous feeling.
"Hey!" Ella exclaimed, seating herself across from me, Corona in hand.
I forced a smile as she placed her Coach purse on the floor and sipped her Corona. I was sure that she could see through the fake grin plastered across my face, but surprisingly she didn't even notice.
(AUG) Should we order?
(ELL) I already ate.
I didn't know what to say to that. I thought that the purpose of going out to lunch was to eat together, but apparently I was wrong.
(ELL) If I am going to be honest and open with you then you should know that I had no intentions of actually dining with you.
(AUG) Okay? Then what is the point of this "lunch?"
Suddenly I got this uneasy feeling, like I had been tricked into coming here. Apart of me wanted to run away and another part wanted to wait and hear what she had to say. Ella leaned over, reaching into her purse and placing an issue of US Weekly on the table. Of course, it wasn't just any issue, it was THE issue. Question answered.
(ELL) According to US Weekly, you have a thing for married men. And you may be surprised to know that I know about you and Jesse.
(AUG) Me and Jesse?
(ELL) About him professing his love to you, blah, blah, blah.
(AUG) Okay? Your point?
(ELL) My point is that I want you to stay away from Jesse. He will be a married man soon and I don't need a home wrecker like you to get in between him and I.
I could feel my face burn up out of frustration and my entire body tense up. I felt like such a fool, allowing her to set me up like this. Although I knew defending myself wouldn't make a difference, I still needed to speak up and not act like a coward. I've never allowed anyone to speak to me this way and I wasn't going to start now.
(AUG) Listen, if it is any consolation to you those rumors are completely false. Yes, I kissed a married man with out being aware that he was married. I was drunk and my choices that night were completely foggy. But I'm not going to allow you to tell me to stay away from Jesse, even if he is your fiancee.
(ELL) You can convince me as much as you'd like but the fact of the matter is, you WILL stay away from Jesse. You honestly don't have an option or a say in this.
I didn't know what to say. I was left completely speechless. This girl was basing her entire opinion of me on a rumor from a "close source." Now she was telling me what to do and expecting me to just listen. So instead of giving her what she wanted, I grabbed my purse and walked away. There was no way I was going to let her get the best of me.
"Just so you know," Ella exclaimed from across the restaurant, "I will be going to Colorado on business this upcoming week, you better keep your distance!"
I stopped in my tracks and could feel myself clench my jaw. This girl had the nerve to speak down to me, to treat me like I was her slave. I have never answered to anyone, but my parents. I was trying to handle the situation in a mature manner, but she had pressed all the wrong buttons.
"I don't know where you get off thinking that you are allowed to speak down to me," I exclaimed, walking in her direction, "But I am not the person you want to speak to like that."
At first she looked a bit shocked when I came walking back, but it didn't take long for her nasty attitude to come back.
"Stay..... away.... from.... Jesse," she said, speaking to me like I was stupid, "Got it? Good."
Who in the world did she think she was?! I knew that whatever I said wouldn't get through her thick skull, so I did the next best thing. I reached for my refilled glass of Ice Tea and poured it on her head, soaking her cashmere top and well done hair in cool Ice Tea. I snapped back around to see everyone's eyes on me and a few camera phones snapping pictures. Great, I've got aspiring paparazzi on my hands.
