Video showing how to install a second hard drive in a MacBook Pro using an adapter that replaces the built in DVD drive. I used an MCE OptiBay to do this. As always follow the manufacturer's instructions when installing anything. This is only meant to give you an idea of what is involved. **Removing the video cable from the system-board was not necessary and could have caused me problems if I was not careful with it. You were warned.

  • Your adding a second drive so it will have some affect. I did not notice much of a drain as the second drive was a SSD drive.

  • @g25a25c yes they do use PATA connection but there are optibay's for that as well...

  • can i install it on a non-unibody macbook? i heard they uses PATA connection instead of SATA drive (is that correct?)

  • was a screwdriver included? and all the tools you would need?

  • This seems like a brilliant idea ! Do you know how it effects the battery life ?
