@chromiumcomics You talk about logic while you commit a logical fallacy of choosing a self serving, non representative example as a counter argument. How many issues of Detective 27 are bought and sold? None even exist over a grade of 8.0! Find a few 9.6 Detective comics 27s and watch the one at 8.0 drop in price like a tech stock at the turn of the century.
Ebay is obviously a dominant market force, seeing as it has the greatest number of potential buyers. Heritage sells on Ebay!
@chromiumcomics as for the second part of your post, you commit a "No True Scotsman fallacy" The post 1980 comics market IS a market. It exists. People buy, sell and trade those comics. Many go for a good price. And the standard there is not 9.4 It is 9.8. That's reality. You seem to even concede here that your response is to just ignore or write this off. Go look at how cheap you can get a slabbed 9.4 vs the high price price/high demand for 9.8
@DocWyoming Ebay hasn't been a market force since 2008. If you want to know what drives the market, it's Heritage, comiclink, comiconnect etc... all the major auction houses that report to GPA. So according to your logic the Detective #27 that sold in February 2010 for a million dollars isn't high grade ?
The only thing I would give you is that the bar for high grade comics post-1980 can be set at 9.4... but I wouldn't call that period of comics "a market".
@chromiumcomics The Market, and not any one person, decides what is High Grade. And the current market, driven by Ebay, has decided that high grade is actually OVER 9.4

Very cool guy. I've been collecting since '72 and a working comics pro since '84...I like this guy--very well-spoken and knowlegable.
