This is an unusual landform where a stream is higher than the land around it; the stream flows on a ridge between two gullies! Boulders filled a stream channel and armored it against downcutting (incision). So, the stream cut gullies on either side of the boulder deposit during floods, which left the main stream channel higher than the surrounding land. Buckeye Creek watershed, West Virginia. Also see:
