you are showing north head from the south side cape disappointment is be hind you at the mouth of the Columbia river . It can be seen from the north jetty .North head is a beautiful spot and it is part of the state park . Witch was Fort Camby after WW2. There is a ww2 Fort on the park. Pretty cool exploring! The name of the park was changed in 2004. In honor of Lewis and Clark corps of Discovery.
Park was also expanded to its current size.Was much smaller at one time.

In the winter storms not a good idea to get anywhere close to the surf, as huge logs and driftwood can suddenly fly up and finish you off. We have all sorts of natural accidents here. I am so glad the producer of this vid didn't add music, love the sound of the surf- thanks for posting this. I am favoriting it and sharing it overseas.

Glad you like it! :) For me the sound of the surf/enviroment less human audio interference(when possible) is the music soundtrack. I will be posting more footage from Cape Disappointment and other locations.

Your right. The name doesn't fit the place. Up until sometime in 2004 it had been called Fort Canby State Park.

It has always been called cape D. It was named in 1788 by a british guy who was searching for a "River of the West" and was disappointed when he did not discover a wide river mouth. It is also the name of the state park surrounding that area as well as the name of the coast guard base there. Fort Camby is also one of the parks that run along that end of the long beach peninsula. It just so happens that most of the good beaches like waikiki and A jetty are on the state park as well.
