"Donut City" is a song written by Eddie Van Halen that was released on the soundtrack for "The Wild Life." It's one of the only EVH songs that was never released on a VH album, so it's pretty rare.

"The Wild Life" movie score is legendary to Van Halen fans, as Eddie Van Halen wrote the score for the movie (Universal Pictures, 1984). "The Wild Life" stars Chris Penn and was the first script Cameron Crowe wrote after the success of "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" and is a typical '80's comedy and is somewhat of a "Fast Times" clone. The movie was only released on VHS - never on DVD, unfortunately.

  • I want this played at my funeral. Saw this movie in the movie theatre in the1980s. Anyone who thinks that EVH is not the most influential and innovative guitar player of our generation is dead wrong.

  • @guitarbridgecleaner That is totally the "Turn me loose" bass line.

  • @theartguy100 You're thinking of something else...

  • Loverboy! nice

  • Foreigner wishes they had these LICKS,lol!

  • Classic EVH,Where's the video of Dave riding his motorbike?

  • An excerpt of this song was used in the 1st Back to the Future movie. Marty was in 1955; he was trying to get his dad to take his mom to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. However, his dad George told Marty that he couldn't take Lorraine (Marty's mom) to the dance because he would miss his favorite T.V. Program "Science Fiction Theater". So that night Marty put on a radiation suit and snuck into his dads house. Marty then placed head phones over his dads ears and blasted the "Donut City" song

  • @2026GetGib I'm glad someone else said that!

  • Sounds like background music for a pornmovie.. Not much special

  • Turn Me Loose, Turn Me Loose .... I gotta do it my way.

  • well yeah, this is a year late, but you know, as much as I like Eddie, this song is not VH album worthy.. Sure it's a catchy beat, but it reminds me of Eye of the Tiger!... Not gonna cut it.. which Van Halen knew and thus didn't release.... Just my opinion... and I'm never wrong...
