In the Christmas week of 2008, my family and I went off to the foothills of the Himalayas in north Bengal, where there are rich forests called the Dooars. The exact place where we stayed was the Chilapata Jungle Camp. This is run by Help Tourism and is right on the opposite bank of the Torsa river from Jaldapara Reserve Forest, once famous for its one-horned Indian rhinos. Chilapata is in Bengal state of India and is also famous for leopards. But no, this trip wasn't a safari. It was to sit back, slink around and simply sleep it off!
