My first time seeing The XX playing live was a tad underwhelming as I didn't know they would be so routinely subdued during their performance. Don't get me wrong it was still a very inviting and immersive experience and the almost perfect match of every beat with every shine of light had a hypnotic effect that left me partially satisfied.
I'm trying infuse in the video some of the dynamism I wish it had been given by the band.
In this clip excerpts from:

About these "Primavera Sound 2010" video series:

These were all shot with one simple amateurish Panasonic Lumix Camera, while I was enjoying the concert myself. I, as a professional video editor I couldn't help but to do something with it. Now with the raw footage I've tried to turn everything into an engaging experience I can share with everybody else. I hope I got close to pay respect to the amazing performances of the artists shown.

The shortcomings of editing concert footage shot with only one (non-professional) camera are big, even bigger if when I shot these clips I wasn't really thinking of them beyond being a simple memento to look at one day. But now that I've decided to do something else with them I've resorted to thinking of that circumstance not as a problem but rather as a challenge to encourage my drive for creation and resolution.

As a rule of thumb I'm not including video from any other source different from the actual recording, so there's no B-roll. Forcing me to work within these limits to create a coherent piece is stimulating and it can spark different results, some I'm happier with than others, ones more fortunate, others plagued by audio problems but I'm still sharing them all with you.

As a side note I think that in these little videos you can also find a big nod to Vincent Moon's amazing "Take Away Shows" music videos posted on La Blogothèque and their gritty and immediate vibe that I adore so much, and that I somewhat wanted to evoke.

ABOUT ME:
My name's Carlos.
I work as a film editor, but my spare time is also occupied with the pleasure of editing and images creation, hence you'll always find me having little and bigger side projects relating to the moving image and appreciation of the virtues of visual storytelling, whereas is narrative, experimental, musical or documental ; either is me creating them or admiring other's creations. I hope you enjoy my works as much as I enjoy working on them.

If you wanna make a collaboration with me, hire me or suggest ideas for videos you'd like to see me making, don't hesitate to do so, I'm very OPEN to all interesting kinds of ideas from people anywhere in the world!

Drop by my Tumblr, follow me on Twitter, or simply browse/subscribe to my YouTube channel if you want to get to watch and listen to other videos or pictures, that I've posted or will be posting from Primavera Sound 2010 taken during shows by Spoon, Broken Social Scene, Pixies, Coco Rosie, Panda Bear, Atlas Sound, Grizzly Bear, First Aid Kit and many more others

Past unrelated shows by David Byrne, Martha Wainwright, Angus & Julia Stone and others are also coming soon. Plus, original music videos made by me featuring the music of: The National, Animal Collective, The Blow, Radiohead, Thom Yorke and many others appear regularly, set to fascinating fresh footage or mashing it up against visual works of art previously created by some of the international film directors I admire the most.

From time to time I also post non-commercial short films narrative, and documental; or experimental features that I've created or have been an important part of their production and that I'm proud enough to present to the rest of the world.
