  • You get Lantus for cheap! I can't get decent insurance with diabetes, so I pay $100 or so a vial, which only lasts me 20 days. Hopefully, Obama will change that when he is in office.

  • we are lucky here in australia, i just go into a chemist with my little ID card and the insulin comes pretty cheap. i feel bad for you, and i hope your health system does change for the better.

  • im 13, and i got diagnosed since before i can remember, i have to take 4 shots a day, and it hurts so bad:(

  • you are very strong!! 13 is a tough age even without diabetes. hang tough.

  • @thegreatwandalini As far as I know all across Canada insulin is and insulin supplies are over the counter. It is here in Nova Scotia and in all the maritime provinces, and I did a bit of research for BC, and apparently it is OTC there as well. Have you ever actually tried to just walk into a pharmacy and buy insulin? As for costs, tell me about it. I have very tight control and it costs a bundle in strips, etc. Take care...

  • @HaligonianType1 In Canada ya say! Where I would like to know! In British Columbia you need a prescription. The pump is free if you are under 18, I am 48, not so lucky. Strips are outrageously priced just under a buck each. I use 10 - 12 a day to properly keep my bg under control. That is $3,560. Plus the insulin, Add a few more thousand dollars, plus I supplement with vitamins and such add a few more thousand dollars a year. Right now, I have coverage, not always.

  • i have a pen but i have not used it do you get the air out each time? my doctor just handed me a sample of novolog and i guess i am suppose to know everything

  • I have diabetes, had since i was 11yr old.. The diabetes stuff is free in England, and also i have the Pump :)

  • BTW, I have a bit of a unique perspective on Type 1 diabetes. I am obviously one, my daughter was diagnosed at six, my dad has Type 1 and his mom was a Type 1. I also have a first cousin who is Type 1. :p

  • @lyserg1k In Canada you don't even need to prove you are a diabetic. Isulin and diabetic supplies are over the counter.

Do you use syringes? I prefer syringes to pen needles to be honest. Plus I have a thing for needles. Haha... Anyway man, great vid and take care.

  • @passion2act i was diagnoised when i was 12 and it was on chritmas what a present i thought but its not so bad now other than the fact that i have to pay for everything because insurance sucks balls 75$ for each bottle of lantus and 63$ for every bottle of novolog

  • @BenU314159 Canada is the same way. We measure the same as Aussies, in mmol/L.

  • yeah :(me too..thats what i hope for too :) diabetes sucks... but oh well

  • 16 units of lantus? a couple months after i was diagnosed i was up to 30 units...thats all the syringe could hold! but i'm on a pump now! no more lantus!
