Re-Thinking Suburban Housing Estates - Empowering People and re-inventing the ground in a car free, local food future.
The suburban housing estates that surround most towns and villages in Ireland are extraordinarily low density. Typically site coverage with building is about 20% leaving 80% for a variety of nonproductive and under used things like roads, carparking; gardens and un-used green spaces. In a future where such luxury of waste is unacceptable and car dependency no longer possible we must re-invent these un-built areas in a way that encourages community and produces food and energy.
