Old school surf style skating at the "Pipeline"
Located in Houston,TX. in a flood control drainage ditch. This was THE hang out 'back in the day'. Several contest were held with up to 300 people in attendance.
Complete with 70' porn soundtrack!

This footage was compiled from several sources, including a couple of longtime surfer/skaters that are no longer with us - Sandy S. and Eric G. - RIP

@soundjamz - actually, each frame was hand drawn on parchment paper and then hand colored. The 70's porno music was added later. Thanks for watching ;-)

The "pipeline" is located on the Braes Bayou at the intersection of South Braeswood and Fondren. It's about 100 yards or so to the west of the bridge on Fondren that crosses over the bayou. My brother, friends and I used to go there whenever we could in high school. It was a great place, but a lot more dangerous than it looks. Great video. I wonder how many of the guys in the video went to Sharpstown HS.

I skated that place heavily too. I graduated from Westbury in '81. Skated there in the around late '76 on. Remember, Michael Emerson, David Gordon, Scott Durham, Troy Gardner, Mike Ibenthal?

Great seeing this old home movie. During this same period, on Houston's northside, we were rideing what some called the Meatgrinder. There is a video posted here, called Dumbass Longboarder, but some of the original top section is missing? Some of us guys originally road it on clay wheels. A set of wheels would only last one day! Then the orginal Cadilac Wheels became available in Houston around 75 or so. does anyone have any old home movies of the Meatgrinder? Please post them!! ,

I remember this place! Grew up about a mile and a half from there. I spent summers from 1967 to 1974 riding my bike up and down the banks of Braes Bayou. I aso remember floods in the Bayou and we would dive into or ride our bikes in to the "rooster tail" where the water was rushing in form the ditch . Caught turtles & crawdads & killed water mocasins!
