Today we are going to review part number T101-103 from Kuat. This is our trail doc bike repair stand. This repair stand is designed to adapt to a fine quality Thule bicycle rack. In this case it will only fit the Thule T2 bicycle rack. We will start an assembly of this. All we are going to do is pop off this cap right here. Next we are going to install the base of the repair stand and this existing hole, the threaded part, will meet up with this hole. What also is a nice note if you look on the back side of this plate. See how it has got a ridge, that actually matches the inside diameter of the tube itself so it helps to keep it from rotating. Lets put it into place and you can see how that keeps it from moving. Then we will install our bolt, flat washer, and lock washer and tighten it down. The base is already installed. Now lets do the second half. Make sure that this clamp right here is opened up and the other part just simply slides into place. 01:07

Now you want to leave it in this position right here for transport and hauling your bikes around. To lock it into place you take this clamp right here and pull it back tight and it is not going anywhere at all. To use it as an actual repair stand, unclamp, raise it to the setting you want and rotate it the way you want it, then clamp it back down. Then with the clamp up here you can rotate it to the way you want it too. There is another clamp on the back side. Pull it up like that and then you can rotate it and your bike gets clamped down into place right here and it has a little hand crank on the top to operate it. Then whatever you clamp the bike with will go in right here. Get your bike into place and just clamp it down. From here on out you can do whatever work you want to do with it. Also, when you clamp the bike this way you can only do so much with it because you have got your cables trapped so you can not really work on the derailers or the brakes on the bike. What you can do is rotate this to match the seat post and grip it that way too. With that, that finishes our review of part number T101-103 from Kuat. The trail doc bike repair stand.

  • @Fallbrookmudd If you are using this as a repair stand, it depends on what you need to work on, where you will be clamping the bike. Joe, one of our installation experts who is featured in this video, is an avid biker himself and would never use something that would harm the frame of the bike.

  • I wouldn't clamp to the frame. Seatpost only!
