I think if people raised their kids to call ALL adults, "Ma'am" and "Sir" kids would learn respect and be SHOWN respect back. We have a bunch of hoodlums (of all races/demographics) it seems that don't know how to dress, speak, or behave. I grew up in a very strict household and I am actually jealous of one of my cousins who calls her father (even as an adult) "Sir" still. I think that is so cool. Never occurred to me to call my father that and too little too late at my age, I guess. too bad.

No, children should be raised to call people what they want to be called. That is what respect is.

Aww. This makes me so sad. I was so happy to find these, b/c I remember listening to this album when I was a kid. I remember sitting in the back of my mom's car when I was6 and we got a flat tire on the freeway, and she changed it all by herself, and I said "My mommy can do anything a man can do!" (which I am sure was courtesy of "Parents are People"). Its sad that a record that was so progressive in terms of showing non-traditional female images had SUCH a characature of black people. Sad. :-(
