PEARL HARBOR, Hi (June 22, 2010) The Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) guided missile destroyer JS Atago (DDG 177) arrives in Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam at the beginning of Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2010 exercise. RIMPAC is a biennial, multi-national exercise designed to strengthen regional partnerships and improve multinational interoperability.

  • @matapan50 I know, these JMSDF Atago class ships (and it's sister class Kongo ships) are huge. At least on the modern scale, very impressive in any case.

  • Man, that is one impressive warship. There was an IJN Atago in WW2 I believe, but not sure. Many years ago, I visited JMSDF Katori in San Diego. Older ship, less modern, but still impressive. Thanks for great video, best of luck to Japan Navy.
