There are some ignorant twits here who don't know great singing when they hear it. Just listen to anything by Alagna, considered by some a 'great tenor', and you will appreciate how magnificent Gedda still was late in his career.

Big difference!!! This is not the real Gedda. I just watched the other video of Amor ti vieta, when he was younger. Here he is not anymore in a good shape. Singers must to retire when they just start to decline, as Franco Corelli did. Sometimes it is our (the public) fault, because we push the artist to perform thinking that they will last for ever, and they are humans, therefore, they get old, too...

Not very good. Mainly because of his age. I believe the people in the audience are clapping for him just out of courtesy for what he used to sound like.
