Close up shot of 3 week old Ruby Throat Humming Bird. He was rescued in North San Diego, Ca. USA. You can see he is almost fully fletched, except for his neck. Shots were taken at our place of work because he requires 24/7 care and attention so he goes from home to work with us. We are registered HB Rescue for San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park and have a 100% success rate for rescue and relase. This little guy will probably be released on or about July 27th. I would like to see him get his flying speed up to at least 30 mph before we let him go. Contact desmgt@cox.net for rescue help or information.

  • he/she is so cute. what happened that the bird needed to be rescued. Great shots

  • She. It turns out she is a F Ruby throat and she was released healthy and well...Found in the middle of someones driveway, may have been a crow attack on the nest, common. She had a small injury to the side of her throat. On her own Now!

  • Amazing little birds aren't they. I'm from Virginia and we rescued a baby hummingbird a few weeks ago. I've also posted some video of him on my youtube page. I know you guys are really dedicated and my hat's off to you.
