This is a hodge-podge of clips from several days at the Albany Bulb pilings. First are some shots of banded birds, and a couple disoriented murres who swam by headed East for the shore (what's with that?) Next are some clips of pelicans doing their low-altitude fishing technique(not as graceful as the dives they do from up high!) the first couple are in slow motion. Then close-ups of a preening heron and pelican. The heron spreads wings in the sun and futters his throat to stay cool. Next is the local wintering peregrine, who often eats her pigeon breakfast on the pilings. After she leaves, a raven picks up the scraps and flys off with it. I find him in the parking lot later, still playing with the scraps.

  • Your video of the preening Brown Pelican is so entertaining! You were so lucky to capture those special moments with it. Thank you for sharing, Shirley.

  • Loved the video! The falcon was my favorite part. Keep them coming. I'm bird photographer from hayward I shoot mostly in garin park and coyote hills. Again Video was awesome.
