the level of the composition is just amazing here...it's like incomprehensibly complex, but still doesnt appear to be showy or unnecessarily complex. It's just groove!

the Time signature is 7/4 at the beginning not 7/8. Switches to a 10/8 which is split to 6/8 and 4/8..then 4/4 at the end

Really nice! This may be personal preference, but I really felt like the percussionist and drummer were stepping on each others toes a lot during the groove sections, especially in the beginning of the tune. I think the feel suffers a little when you have two guys playing backbeat at the same time, even if it's on different snares. Sticks and sticks is just too much of the same texture for me--congas with hands would have been money. BUT double backbeat was vital for the set solo section--SICK!!
