This is composition of a french composer - Gabriel Faure (1845-1924).
The theme is very similiar to melody from film "La Double Vie de Veronique". If you like Zbigniew Preisner's music, Faure may interest you too...His works and musical style influenced many 20th century composers.

  • Thank you for this recording. This seems to be the ONLY upload of Faure's vocalise on youtube. And by Ameling! I know the melody but certainly did NOT know this recording. When is it from? Around the mid 1970's?

  • it is from her 4CD album with complete Faure's Melodies. It was recorded in 1970-1974

    I love this music! :)

  • It is so beautyful! Who is singing that?

  • Elly Ameling is singing

  • So much of Faure's music manages to reach that place that only his genius seemed to know even existed. Elly Ameling's performance (sympathetically accompanied here by my old teacher Dalton Baldwin) perfectly captures the yearning autumnal quality of this music

  • @Wellsypig15 oooh do you know where I can find it? because I've been trying to find a vocalise for baritone for the longest!

  • i have this arranged for baritone and piano, its absolubetly stunning, beautiful piece of music
