Her turns are terrific. I don't love the tempo, and this interpretation is not her best. But she is the greatest Lucia of her generation.

Gruberova makes a very convincing Lucia; and I can honestly say she does it better than today's Anna Netrebko. Gruberova's voice in the Mad Scene comes off as effectively "sick", detached, cold, ghostly, eerie. She acts the part very well and looks perfectly "mad" as Lucia should. I love it!

Hmm, she's wearing a nightie rather than wedding dress, and where's the blood? She looks rather washed out in that wig and nightie too. But amazing voice. Terrific rendition.

Her singing is ok here. But the acting? What's with the dagger? Did she kill her hubby, run to the kitchen and clean the knife first or something? Ridiculous.

Right, I'm sure SHE came up with this idea!!! Stage Directors usually have the last say as to what takes place on stage along with the General Manager NOT the singer. She was probably doing what she was told to do.
