A quick look at a few contradictions in the Christian scriptures -- 1 John, Romans, Matthew, and Luke.

One should think that the purported omnipotent, omniscient sovereign of the universe would have been more careful about sifting such things out of his message to humanity.

"There Is A Balm in Gilead" sung by the wonderful Chris Webster.

  • To get around the contradiction of the sinless sinner, they arbitrarily move the goal post of what defines a continuous lifestyle of sin. For heinous crimes like murder, you get one strike and you are out. For adultery or grand larceny, you get two-three strikes. If you can't quit playing with yourself, it doesn't count as continuous as long as you feel sorry and keep asking for forgiveness while waiting for old age & disease to render you sinlessly impotent. Gluttony no longer counts as sin.

  • @MySocksSmell2 "they arbitrarily move the goal post of what defines a continuous lifestyle of sin"

    Indeed.

  • @ProfMTH you are "stupid"

  • @teeggarscott "you are 'stupid'"

I'm curious as to why you put 'stupid' inside quotation marks.

  • @MunkyDrag0n hahahhaha epic comment!

  • 1 John 1:8-10 is in past tense, he was referring to the time before they were 'born again'.

This is supported by the next verse 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" This suggests that in theory Christians need only be cleansed once, and from that point onwards they live perfectly sinless lives if they really believe, which they obviously do not...

  • Another implication here: if we live on a sphere, how could JC see ALL the kingdoms of the world? Did he see the Chinese kingdoms?

  • It takes a certain amount of illiteracy to understand the bible.

  • one can be honest ,use ethical standards of semantics ,argument and logic OR one can make a serious stab at defending the gospels but it is clearly not possible to do both ..

theists ,who can be seen to be completely honest ,ethical and rational in other arguments ,will suddenly slip into their "nonsense ninja " outfits ,when being required to defend their odious "holy scriptures " and all the rules of honest and rational argument fall by the wayside ..UP can mean down ,blk could be white etc

  • The bible is self-contradictory? I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you!

  • The devil looks a bit like george michael, lol.

  • @teeggarscott nice way to avoid the argument
