That was a great way of thinking that Stringer bought out. Avon said that you don't buy a corner, you take a corner. Then Stringer pointed out that you're gonna pay either way.
Stringer was preparing for the future. Being a gangster only gets you in three places (jail, cemetery or hospital).

If you've only seen seasons 1 - 4 then you've seen the best seasons. But I must say that when "The Wire" started following little kids I didn't understand it. But as the season went on I understood what HBO was doing and I loved them for it. HBO was showing how people grow up to be what they are. They couldn't continue following the people from season one because in the life of a gangster you die young and you end up in three places (jail, cemetery or hospital).

The scene where D'angelo's mother asks Avon to check to see who killed D'angelo in jail was a great scene also. It's like D'angelo's mom knew Stringer had D'angelo killed.
"The Wire" is by far the greatest show ever on tv.

@holdemehha He was wrong in that regard but Stringer was wrong with his approach as well. You can't treat this game like a regular business because when you dealing with guys like Marlo, they ain't trying to hear that product bullshit. As it pans out, they were both right and they were both wrong in their different approaches to the game. Yes you have to be cunning like Stringer, but you still have to be ruthless like Avon.

Never again huh? Seems to me Avon forgot that lesson very quickly. At the end of the day hes just a gangster (he supposes), and he let his ego and his need for reputation get the best of him. Stringer spelled it out for him, when you beef for corners the cops are gonna be all over your ass. There's gonna be bodies, and people that aren't dead end up in jail. But, Avon wants his corners, so......

3:26 Shows just how smart Avon is. He knew what Krawcyzk, Levy and Clay Davis were all about which is why he got up and left early. He should've told Stringer, though. Would've saved him time and money.
