cringe at your use of 'pro-evolutionist'
-
Lol microevolution has nothing to do with what the grad is talking about. Sure you are watching the same video?
-
evolution grad did not prove that evolution is true other than microevolution.

did hovin ask if plants move?!?!? wtf. of course they move. all plants move toward the sun or light source. other plants havemore visable movement like the venus fly trap. just search plants that move right in youtube.

Did Hovind just say a nautilus is not bilaterally symmetrical?
If so, that's another gem of Dr.Dipshitno right there. Of course since Hovind can't tell a molecule from a gene from a chromosome, who's really surprised?

I love the line "I resent paying for that to be taught in schools..."
Uhhm...Kent? You DIDN'T pay for that (or anything else) to be taught in schools...which is why you're in fucking prison...
-
So he accepts that animals of the same species exhibit different phenotypes and are classified as subspecies but cannot accept that said subspecies in the wild may have different selection pressures placed on them causing further genetic variation and drift and the eventual rise of new species over time.

I understand where you're coming from perfectly, and I think you wrapped things up nicely. I enjoyed our conversation. :)
On a separate note, I also feel somewhat of a personal responsibility to spread truth. Check out my username on Digg, along with username ApokalypseNow (he's my brother). Enjoy!

agreed. there is a reason Kent is in prison. by the admittedly flawed torture analogy, he's more the perpetrator, than the tortured. You and I are having this discussion based on the same rules of logic, while this video plainly illustrates Kent's inability to understand those basic rules. I think what you're saying is he's responsible for his own ignoramity. I concede that my own escape from this nonsense was a result of my "personal responsibility" to spread truth, not arbitrary condemnation.

I agree completely, though going once again to the torture analogy, at least these days one is supposed to be able to expect no torture because of the Geneva Conventions (there's a whole conversation here about waterboarding that I'd rather not get in to). My initial reply was more about Kent Hovind and those like him, who have given the topic some though - they bear some responsibility for their own stupidity at this point. :)
The biggest downfall of Creationism is that they believe in the Bible first, collect and interpret evidence second. This means that they are easy prey to confirmation bias, which means that they aren't looking for the objective truth, but the truth according to the Bible.

I love the end where Hovind says he's not going to pay for that (evolution) to be taught in schools. Wait...why is he in jail? Oh yeah (from wikipedia) willful failure to collect, account for, and pay over Federal income taxes and FICA taxes, forty-five counts of knowingly structuring transactions in Federally-insured financial institutions to evade the reporting, and one count of corruptly endeavoring to obstruct and impede the administration of the internal revenue laws.
