Funny how small events turn the momentum. Bartman was just in a place and time where it was destined to happen. Every Cub fan KNEW something disastrous was going to happen...they were all stressed and on edge. It really is amazing how a play like this, when up 3 runs, etc. could change the entire atmsophere and dynamic of the players, game and crowd and eventually the series. It's very easy to point at a fan and dismiss the bad pitches and defense that followed.

@alphamale88888 Yes, let's blame Steve Bartman. It proves the Cubs were not a championship caliber team. A championship team would have blocked that incident out of their minds and taken care of business but not the 2003 Cubs. They choked that game away and sadly for the last eight years Bartman's life has been hell because instead of blaming Mark Prior, the bullpen and Alex Gonzalez the demented Cubs Nation still puts all of the blame on him alone.

The Cubs were all mentally out of it after Bartman interfered. Mark Prior hung pitches and threw wild pitches, Alex Gonzalez was nervous fielding the ball, Moises Alou was pissed off. Yeah, it was the worst moment in Cubs history thanks to the amazing Steve Bartman.

Does anyone know some guy named Alex Gonzolez? I heard of him but I don't remember if he did anything that could have ended the 8th inning. Oh well, lets just blame everything on steve Bartman.
