Draw Muhammad Day 2 is 20 May 2011!

If you love freedom and detest unnecessary censorship, show your support for the freedom of speech by drawing an image of the prophet muhammad.

Many Islamic fundamentalists believe it is acceptable to threaten violence or even kill people for the simple act of drawing an image of the prophet of Islam, Muhammad. Many people have died around the world in response to the drawing of such images.

This reaction in itself is unacceptable to reasonable human beings, but what has made it worse is the cowardly submission many Western media outlets have made to the threats of such violent individuals, resulting in censorship and a less than enthusiastic condemnation of these horrible acts.

People must have a right to freedom of speech. A consequence of this right is that some people may be offended by the speech of others. Offense does not warrant violence, for the threat of violence is a suppression of speech in itself.

When Americans and other freedom-loving people give in to the threats of others we contradict our ideals and destroy a part of ourselves.

On May 20, 2011 show your opposition to censorship and the violence of Islamic fundamentalists by simply drawing an image of the Prophet Muhammad. Make this image simple (like I have done) or make it extraordinary. Keep it tame, or make it provocative, what ever you feel. This is also the essence of free speech.

The objective of Draw Muhammad Day is not to mock or insult Islam, but to respond to the actions of the few who threaten free speech and give Islam a bad name.

@HellCatFury12 Are you kidding me? Read the description of this video to hopefully understand why Draw Muhammad Day happened. Maybe you will learn something about being an American as well. I am a veteran, I signed up for the Marines to protect American ideals including freedom of speech and religion (but it didn't turn out that way). If you think making a drawing is provoking war, then you are totally lost.

@HellCatFury12 Pay really close attention. Each side has the right to free speech. Neither side has the right to resort to violence because they are offended. So when I say they do not have the right to not be offended, I do not mean they will not be offended. I mean they cannot justify their violence because they are offended. Most adults get this concept. Kids learn this on the playground. If Billy calls Stevie's mother a whore, Stevie cannot get away with hitting Billy. Right?
