My c-section VS VBAC

I had both of my children quite easily through natural childbirth.
However, my best friend has a serious medical condition and HAD to have a c-section to save her child. It took her a long time to recover, but she's just glad to have her child.
Sometimes a c-section is completely unavoidable. Don't make the procedure a villian, it has saved lives.

I pushed my baby 2 hours and still he did not come out and his heart beat went dangerously down, so I am very happy that I was in hospital and not at home so they could make an emergency c-section right away (baby have to be out under 10 minutes from the doctors decision) and save my baby´s life. If I would been at home giving birth my baby would be dead now. And no one saw that coming. My pregnancy went great, baby wasn´t too big or anything, but still I could not do it "naturally".

@IconicaPhotography interesting!! 8.11 ıs big thats almost 9 pounds. ı dont know anyone who delıvers a 9 pound wıthout a tear? usually a vacuum ıs used on a bıg baby and that ıs way more dangerous than c sectıon ın my opınıon. I dont know why c sectıon ıs such a scary thıng ın the states. most people have ıt here ın Turkey even gynecologıst themselves and they are all fıne. they are doıng better than me who delıvered vagınally( ıt wasnt safe at all).

That I so awful that your child passed away. My understanding is that usually it's not terribly dangerous if an umbilical cord is wrapped around a child's neck. That happened in both of my births and neither the doctor nor the midwife seemed particularly worried. I asked them both about it and they said it happens all the time. Nonetheless, I'm truly sorry for your experience.

May I add selfish? Irresponsible. And I'm not just saying those things because I'm crazy. It is scientific fact that unnecessary c-section puts mom/baby's health at risk compared to a vaginal delivery. Choosing to put your child's health at risk because you're worried about your precious vag is wrong.

8.11 is not too big for a safe vaginal delivery. You should not be able to make decisions that you are completely uneducated on that endanger your health or the health of your baby. If you asked a doctor for a 5 or 6 Valium when you were in labor, he'd look at you like your were crazy, but when women ask for completely unnecessary c-sections (that can endanger mother/child's health), many doctors readily accept. It fits into their schedule better and they make more money.

Does your vagina really change? It's super stretchy. Mine seems pretty much like before. Immediately after I see what you mean, but after a couple of months it seems pretty much business as usual. My boobs however are an entirely different story :)

It's funny because if your baby is 9 pounds or over, most doctors will make it seem like it's impossible to give birth vaginally. I've talked with so many older women, just as you have, who have had very big babies vaginally. Also, let's not forget that the pelvis is not fixed, it actually expands. The only time it is nearly fixed is when the mother is laying on her back.

Nature is usually best, though it isn't always wonderful. Childbirth can be a drag, but it doesn't mean a c-section is better. It's only good if it truly is to save the life of the child or mother, and it looks like in 15-20% of the cases, it is COMPLETELY unnecessary and actually put the mother and child at risk compared with a vaginal birth.

There are a lot more associated with c-section.

Thanks for the video! I had my first daughter 1 year ago via unplanned C-Section due to her flipping breech a week before I went into labor. They tried an external aversion 5 times and she wouldn't budge. I was told there is absolutely NO reason why I shouldn't have a VBAC by my doctors. I recently moved and hope my new doctors feel the same way. I really don't want the long recovery and fear again.

love love love this video!! I have had 3 c/s myself not for anything that I would say saved my babies life; just for the doctors unwillingness to let my body do what God made it to do. My 4th child I just recently delivered vaginally and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world. I had to fight to do it harder then I fought for anything else in my life but I did it. I couldn't see myself having another c/s and caring for a newborn and 3 other children one of them a toddler

I'm very happy for your vbac, unfortunately I couldn't do it :(, my first son was born by c-section because he was breech, 2 weeks ago I tried to do vbac with no success, I pushed 2 hours and ended up getting a c-section which was more painful than my first one, I still cry a lot about not being able to do vbac, but it was worth the try, so I encourage everyone to do it
