Croce had a great voice and this song is one of his very best....partly due to the fact that many people can-in some way-relate to it....unfulfilled love. Beautifully recorded....a classic song that I think does get overlooked....Skiles is very much right about that.

A VERY poignant, sad song. The line "And you can keep the dime" is classic. I recall when payphpones were a dime lol. Hope you find happiness in the next life, Jim. RIP.

Sooo much untapped talent there. If he'd even gotten a few more years, he could've gone over the top and been a legend. Unfortunately, he died so young, so soon he's often overlooked. He's still one of the best ever though.
