Yes, Belichick brought Saban into the NFL when Belichick was coach of Cleveland in the early 90's. And because of the Browns success in 1994 it got Saban the Michigan St. job which really catapulted his career. So Saban owes a lot to Belichick.

I agree. Welker and Ernest Graham are the 2 surprise undrafted players this season, and I have both.

I don't want to go Art Bell here, but is Saban really good friends with Belichek?
That could have played into the trade, but the fact that Welker has been a thorn in the Patriots' side and Welker's former QB being on the Patriots'depth chart might have played a big part.

I was shocked when Welker went UNDRAFTED. As soon as I heard he signed with the Patriots, I penciled him in on my fantasy roster. Quite the difference maker!
