A goal scored by Roberto Carlos, which almost defies all the possibilities of scoring when you have factored in all the variables. This goal should be regarded as, "the goal of futbol history."

  • truly one of the most majestic moments in sports. And the goal keeper wasn't incompetent. He just calculated in a tenth of a second based on past experience that there was absolutely no danger that someone could score from that angle. He moved out to stop a potential header and then watched what he thought was impossible. For all those hidden soccer dynamos-- post your own shots or shut the hell up. People who denigrate greatness are never great they just didn't get enough attention as kids.

Well said!!! And you nailed it especially justifying the goalie's actions (any goalie for that matter). The chances of such a goal going in are only very few in the history of the sport, but the chances from a team mate scoring from an in coming cross-ball are very common and all goalies reflexes have been conditioned to anticipate the pass rather than the shot, unless it is from a set piece such as a corner kick or even direct kick from such angle.

  • Why do I have to do simple harmonic motion, vertical circular motion and 2D impulses in M3 when I could be doing this OCR?

  • Roberto Carlos is just one of the best player to ever kick a ball. The goals he scored at his best were sick, and even when he wasn't at his best, he managed to score some truly awesome goals ( e.g the one he scored direct from a corner kick when he was in Corinthians , brazilian league ) . To my mind, he IS the best LB ever. I had the opportunity of meeting him, he is also a very nice person.
