In Dutch the song is called (freely translated): "Two Pretty Blue Eyes" and the Dutch verse is totally different (about a boy/man who derives his contentment in life from the sight of his partner's blue eyes). Oddly enough in Dutch the expression "blauw oog" (blue eye) is normally used for what in English would be called a "black eye", but it is not used with that meaning in this song.
I think the tune is the old English musichall tune "Two Lovely Black Eyes" - same chorus but different verse.
