Natural gas vehicles have horsepower, acceleration and carrying capacity similar to that of their diesel and gasoline counterparts, but there are big differences as well. In part four of our CNG Now! education series, we show you how CNG tanks can actually be safer than those used in gasoline-powered vehicles and how dedicated NGVs and bi-fuel vehicles can have a lower rate of maintenance and cost less to repair.

  • All I want to know, three words: miles per dollar.

  • @khroe it depends on where you are. CNG is sold in GGE, which stands for gasoline gallon equivalent. Here in Oklahoma, a gallon of gasoline is about $3.80, but a GGE of CNG is $1.39. They would both power a car for the same distance.

  • Good video on natural gas vehicles

  • Thanks. Do you drive one or know someone who does?

  • I learned a lot. I think I will buy a cng crown victoria now.

CNG is cleaner , is around 5% less CO2 that LPG, by kg/km. i'm on the conversion business, i'm not on the US territory, but believe me , i'm doing both conversions, and in my point of view, is only attractive for fleet vehicles, taxis, massive transportation, for personal and private use, LPG dominate the market. i'm doing around 20 conversion everyweek, and 98% prefer LPG.

we here has around 850 LPG statiosn nation wide (Dominican Republic), CNG only has 4 stations.

  • @muchilus well i am sorry to disappoint you but cng is a much cleaner and a greener fuel to use then lpg i don't know where you are from wherever you are from that must be a sorry ass place because here i can get pressure of over 200 psi which means i can fill in more gas and lpg is much more dangerous then cng and one more thing you have to know that lpg gives less mileage compared to petrol

  • And about pollutions is totally , inverted, LPG has less CO2, HOX, O2 particules , that cng, depend of the blend of propane/butane available on your location.

if you run 100 miles dialy, and have a tank with 10 mt3 you will need to refill 2 times each day the same tank, instead when using the LPG last 3x more distance with the same size of tank, for example 60 liters (16 gallons).

LPG is far better that CNG in all the aspect.

    sorry for dissapoint you.

CNG is dangerous as well compare to LPG, CNG tanks are heavy, and dense, because use double the steel to archieved the high pressure on the tank. (3600 psi) compare to 140-150 psi of LPG. The only significant improve on safety is that cng is lighter that air, and disperse more easy that lpg.

in the most of the vehicle you ahve to use spark timing advanced of the engine otherwise you don't get benefits.

    CONS:

    HEAVY TANKS

    HIGH COST KIT

    REFILL EVERYDAY

    LOST OF POWER 10-15%.

  • @muchilus dude you have no idea lpg is more costly and gives less mileage then cng and it much, much more dangerous then cng lpg is as similar as petrol because it causes the same pollution as petrol yeah you can get more power but not anything else.

  • LPG, is better fuel, more power, more gas mileage, more versatile.

you should use TARTARINI kit as a recognize brand.
