thanks for the info. can this be done on properties that are already listed with an agent? if so, how should i procedee? most of the properties that i see rent to own are listed with agents. thank you

Yes, it can be done. I would talk to the agent personally. Their benefit is to get a commission on the first month's rent, as well as a potential commission on the back end when the T/B cashes out. I've done these with success, but you need the right agent/broker to pull if off.
Consider that you with an option locating a prospect will cost them less than if another agent were to bring one.
