  • The bottom line is that the FT-817 with ONLY 4 watts into a simple dipole on that day of propogational time - made the 12,000 mile trip !! you gotta love the old Ft-817 for its versatillity !!.

  • EA7BA Is on top of a big hill. He runs a simple 2 element quad with normal legal power. His QTH is what does it. I was cruising on yacht in the Pacific and he was stronger than DDK, a fax station in Germany on 13.882MHZ running 20 KW into a discone! He is even stronger than EA3JE who runs a 200 foot tower with stacks, Location Location, Location!

  • Just shows that you dont need to pollute the HF bands with a linear amplifier to work across the world!!EA7BA uses a 2 element Cubical Quad antenna for 10/15/20mtrs.

  • Blimey! What does EA7BA run on 20m? He always seems to be able to pick up the VK/ZL stations that I can never hear and your video indicates he must be running something BIG to be able to pick you up from ZL on 4/5w.
