  • @feardis007 Yes, from Kuroi Kao akitas, where is he from?

  • @CambriasAshes the same thing happened with our Rocky at 3 years. His thyroid produces NO hormone and he is on medication. He is happy and healthy as ever now!

  • I know this video is 2 years old and the owner said the dog had only begun to show aggression recently...as an FYI if your Akita has a relatively sudden onset of aggression PLEASE have your veterinarian run a complete thyroid panel. Thyroid disease is fairly common in Akitas and aggression is a symptom. This can be true of any dog really. More often than not, sudden onset aggression is the result of a physical problem rather than a personality defect.

  • @TheDelianLeague I realise that my comments appear aggressive and I'm coming across like a know it all but this is not the case guys as I am just limited in what you can say in a comment.

  • @TheDelianLeague Akita's are also very smart and can play happy and know that just behaving will please you however, do not mistake this for being cured as the personality is unique between individual Akita's. Love him for who he is but be responsible in situations when strangers are near. They are well known to be both aggressive and weary towards strangers. This breed is not for everyone and require special attention. Over 14,000 years of evolution will do that.

  • What you all need to realise is that Akita's are not like other breeds. They are extremely independent and all this talk of behaviour training will not change this situation like it would a regular breed. Please do not bother to comment on this with stories of I know this Akita and I did this with my Akita. I have my own experience with this breed and my friend has 35 years and you cannot get Akita's to change who they are.

  • cool markings on his face!
