Home bowling alley

Some more shots on my half-scale bowling alley. I bought some synthetic lane panels a few weeks ago. Still getting the hang of it, the hook is a little unpredictable right now (tinkering with spraying some pledge on the head of the lane to get it into a skid, seems to be working a little better).

Hey, do the pins reset themselves, or do you have to do them by hand?

Thanks for the info. Do you think you could give me dimensions? Length and width of the lane and the dimensions for the pin deck? I.e. how far apart is each pin. Thanks!

@Wheresthebeer1 Everything is half-scale, so do the math. Distance between pins = 6 in., center to center, etc. I built it about 16 feet long, the lane itself is 15 ft, pit area is just under two feet. Length, you're only limited by the space you have (I could have knocked out a wall in the basement, but I didn't want to go that far, lol).

@Wheresthebeer1 Pins are the Linds mini pins (do a google search, you'll find them easier that way). The ball that comes with them is too small and light (not to scale), so I used a 110 mm bocce ball for a while, but special ordered some balls from Epco. Around 2 1/4 lbs (although in retrospect, I think they may be a little too light...kinda hit like a 14 or 15 lb ball would). As for cost, I have no idea. It wasn't much, just some 2x4s and a couple sheets of plywood.

Very nice.... How did you do this? How big are the pins? And how big is the ball? How much did it all cost? Going to do something like this for my house soon

@TheBrunswickBowler The new surface has taken some getting used to, but I think I've got the hang of it. I threw seven in a row earlier tonight for a 240-something game (by far my best to date). If I can get the ball to skid in the head area like a real ball, it'll hook realistically, so I put a little Pledge on the lane up to the arrows and that seems to do the trick. Sometimes I don't do it right, and the ball will actually back up when it hits the "oil", lol. I'll figure it out, haha.
