As we know with horses always expect the unexpected. This is part to but did some work with him before I was able to video. But this how I got to where we are today. More insight check out my book."True to your horse horsemanship" easy to follow and left the filler out.

  • Thumbs up to David for giving this horse a chance. Horse like this will continue to test you but they do make great riding horses.

  • My mare is like that as well. I bought her as a 3 year old and she was untouchable. Once we established mutual trust she was one of the easiest horses to train and I love riding her. To this day (she's 8 now) she still will react violently if someone she doesn't know walks up to her to pet her. She's reared up, bitten and gone after people. Men seem to irritate her the most. She doesn't mind little kids but I'm still very careful. It's a good thing she's my forever horse!! Great job!!

  • Thumbs up to David for giving this horse a chance. When others would have given up.

I too have an 16'3 alpha mare that was started at 5 and she is 12 now. She was trained by a western horsemen like yourself but is now a good dressage horse. The training never stops with these horses they test you once in a while to see if things have changed.

    Keep up the good work.

  • thanks for this i have the same problem whit a horse like that now i know what way to go And yes my horse was very spoiled he thinks hes a puppie

  • do you have any updates in this guy? did you sell him? or is he better now? being ridden?

  • I know a couple people that have horses that no one can get around but them. I'm sorry to say they want a way that's so gentle that I doubt that they would continue with the rope or tie up a leg. I found it suprising that the cause of this horses aggression was spoiling and then a trainer that wasn't right for the horse. It seems to me that too many jump to the conclusion that a horse has been abused if it has a problem. The results here are impressive. I'll be watching for the next one.

  • This was helpful to be sure, but I had trouble hearing your words because of the wind blowing across the microphone. A wind sock would probably help. Thanks for sharing your expertise, it is generous of you.

  • When I was watching this, I thought that horse had too much nice human somewhere, or he was raised as an orphan, they can get REALLY bad like that. There's a hungarian mare I trim, that took after my husband a few weeks ago, she was raised an orphan. You did a good job with this horse too.
