CHAN:
Body enhancing procedures are no longer an exclusive female domain. India's economic boom is spawning a new breed of male, middle-class professionals with the desire to look good and the money to make it happen.
STORY:
For years, Indian women have been relying on the surgeon's knife for that perfect body, that flawless face, and now, the men are muscling in
.
[Dr. Manoj Kumar J Manwani, Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Consultant]:
"Now they have become more aware of their personality and their looks. And the main thing is that they have more purchasing power. Now they are independent, they are earning money at an early age because of a lot of opportunity to them."

Manwani, who has been practicing for more than 18 years, said most of
his male clients already have a good body and work out regularly. But they
want to look perfect.
In the past, face lifts and nose jobs were the most common cosmetic
surgeries for men, but now increasingly the most sought-after treatments are
removal of abnormal breast tissue, and abdominal liposuction
and reshaping.

[Prasad Bidapa, Image Consultant]:
"Today, people are watching things and seeing things and saying we can look good too, we can dress better, we can groom better. We can get a better car. You know, it's an aspirational society in the throes of growing and becoming something much bigger than it used to be."

No longer having to rely on their parents for cash, many Indian men now have the financial freedom to spend at whim.
Competition for lucrative jobs has also helped spur the trend towards looking good.

[Yousuf, Aspiring Actor]:
"They (men) are more serious now about looking good. You know, everyone wants to look good because there is so much of glamour coming in everyday life."

An increasing number of glamour-struck males are going under the knife
to improve their prospects in Bollywood, India's famed film industry.
