Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is the secretary-general of the Lebanese political party Hezbollah. Although the United States considers Hezbollah a terrorist organization, three former U.S. diplomats had a chance to meet with Nasrallah in 2006, before Israel launched the Summer war on Lebanon. The diplomats were members of a delegation organized by the Council for the National Interest.

During the meeting, Nasrallah discussed Hezbollah's strategy to free Lebanese prisoners being held in Israel. He also spoke about the origins of Hezbollah, and recollected the role that the United Nations Security Council, the United States and member states of the Arab Union played in recent Lebanese history during which, they not only made no attempt to avail the Lebanese people of the occupation at the hands of Israel - who even laid siege to the Lebanese capital, Beirut - but instead supported the aggressions against Lebanon and labelled its' resistance movements as terrorists. He also recalled the reaction following an event - that was back in the news in the latest war on Lebanon — Israel's bombing of a UN observation post in the southern Lebanese town of Qana in 1996 which killed 106 Lebanese refugees.

One of the retired diplomats who met with Nasrallah in February was Edward Peck - he spoke to Democracy Now during the last war on Lebanon on what transpired during the meeting with Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah. Edward Peck is the former U.S. chief of mission in Iraq and ambassador to Mauritania. He served as the deputy director of the White House Task Force on Terrorism in the Reagan administration

    let me summarise that again:

kidnap of soldiers not civilians as in the case of Israel who have 1000s of lebanese and palestinian civilians in jail re: human rights groups. Why kidnap soldiers? well bargain them for 1000s of civilians.

next point shelling, if you watch the news, read papers, you will see that it was a reaction to bombing lebanon where schools, hospitals, roads and civilians were killed.

israel entered to save kidnapped soldiers who were spying

  • @causeandeffectable

The effective invasion of Lebanon and occupation as well as thousands of civilians imprisoned could be a reason why lebanese regardless of religion are supporting this man. The kidnapping of soldiers according to Lebanese citizens is in retaliation to 1000s of lebanese captured. You can read robert fisk's articles in the independent on that. The shelling as you put only occured in retaliation when the south was bombed, houses, hospitals, schools and innocent ppl were killed

  • @rac2181 are u better? lo

  • @blue222blue

Sorry, I meant to type "WWI", not "WWII".

It was a tragedy for those who lost land in that war, as it is for all refugees and victims of war. That doesn't mean they didn't lose.

Should victims of Muslim conquests be returned to their ancestral homelands? How about giving America back to Mongolians? Why the selective outrage?

I'd honestly like to know. Often the reason is anti-semitism, as stated in the Hamas charter. I'm not accusing you of this, but it is common.

You've called me coward, vermin, and hypocrite. If you can handle facts, let's discuss. If this is how you need to talk, talk to someone else.

By the way, as if it mattered, I'm not Jewish, Israeli, Hindu, Indian, or Zionist.

  • @GeorgiaIsOnMyMind

Gaza and the West Bank were aquired lawfully by Israel in a defensive war. Still, Israel wants to return those lands. it already returned Gaza.

The problem is containing the racist, imperial, and religiously bigoted attacks from "refugees", sponsered by brutes in Iran ( and previously Iraq), who should have been absorbed by Arab neighbors long ago, as Israel absorbed Jewish refugees from Arab countries.

  • @GeorgiaIsOnMyMind

Palestine was ruled for hundreds of years by Ottoman Turks, not Arabs. They lost it to Britain in WWII. Britain divested, allocating most to Arab Muslims, a minority to Jews.

Where is the illegality, immorality, or genocide in that?

Are you as outraged about the "usurped" Hindu land in Pakistan? Britain divested its colonial holdings, gave most to the religious majority, some to the minorty. A lot of Muslims traveled farther to Pakistan than Jews did to Israel.

  • @blue222blue

If the world is a "family", why are you zionists occupying an entire people, usurping their land and committing genocide against them? If you regard Muslims as members of "ALL human beings", like you say, why do you zionist vermin have different rules for Muslims than you do for Christians, Hindus and atheists. Unfortunately you people say one thing, DO another. Can I say hypocrite already?

  • @blue222blue

"let each help the other, not kill."

Then preach that to zionist israelis and their IDF. Why are they occupying the Palestinians, holding them captive in two concentration camps called "gaza" and the "west bank" (in which they toss white phosphorus) and once in while go inside to indiscriminately kill as many Palestinians as possible. Your rose colored glass rhetoric aside, you fail miserably.
