It's not supposed to be a funny song. It's a sad and kind of tragic song. John Prine writes song about real life. I like his lyrics. His voice was never a great one and was better when your but I still like his new stuff too. Listen to "Crazy as A Loon" and "Some Humans Ain't Human" from his Fair & Square CD. Good stuff!

Really love the way John Prine captures the reality of people's pain and lives. What a master story teller he is!
